The Quality Engineer role is more than just a job—it’s an opportunity to build a long-term career as an industry leader. The Altec Work Truck team is seeking a Quality Engineer to join a fast-growing organization dedicated to delivering exceptional products and customer satisfaction.

In this role, the individual will engage in all aspects of quality throughout the manufacturing process and service. Working cross-functionally with engineering, account managers, sales teams, and external upfitters, the Quality Engineer will help ensure every Altec Work Truck meets our high standards—even when built outside of Altec’s facilities.

This position will focus on monitoring 90-day warranty performance, driving corrective actions with external installers, and supporting service requests for trucks operating in the field. The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening quality processes, improving field performance, and protecting the Altec brand.

All locations will be considered; however, the preferred locations are Elizabethtown, Indianapolis, or Mt Airy.

Qualifications

· ABET EAC-certified Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.

OR

· Master of Science in Engineering from a college that offers ABET EAC-certified BS degrees.

OR

· Active PE license in the United States.

· ***Coop, Intern, Temp experience does not count towards the requirements.

  • · External candidates - Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in an engineering role after meeting the above education requirements

    • Applicable Masters counts as one year of experience

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Must be able to work with remote team members and work with minimal supervision.

· Must be willing to travel up to 35% of the time, potentially on short notice, which may include flying.

Strongly Preferred

· 2 years Altec experience with quality engineering OR 4 years Altec experience in an engineering role.

· Experience with Excel spreadsheets and Power BI data visualization tools.

· Experience with Teamcenter, Qlikview, and Oracle software.

· Understand OEM chassis and Altec mechanical/electrical/hydraulic systems.

Desired Skills:

· Monitor performance by gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports.

· Ability to analyze warranty trends and failure modes to drive corrective actions and product improvements.

· Strong understanding of Altec standards and best practices.

· Understanding of FMVSS and DOT requirements.

· Understanding 3D models, drawings, work orders, and electrical/hydraulic schematics.

· Strong understanding of 90 day warranty metrics and reports.

· Ability to work with non-Altec production facilities, conveying Altec best practices and high-quality expectations.

· Ability to prioritize multiple projects and respond quickly to field quality concerns.

· Strong time management skills.

· Excellent written and communication skills.

· Knowledge of quality management systems such as SR Triage.

· Detail oriented.

· Dedicated to customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

· Document and communicate field quality issues, warranty trends, and corrective actions to external installers and cross-functional teams.

· Support development of new quality processes with external installers.

· Monitor installer and supplier quality performance metrics, driving improvements based on trends.

· Lead root cause investigations for field failures using structured problem-solving methods such as 8D and cause maps.

· Develop, track, and verify corrective actions with external installers, and suppliers.

· Contribute to external installer audits to validate build quality and ensure adherence to Altec quality standards.

· Analyze 90-day warranty data and field failure trends to identify recurring issues and improvement opportunities.

· Support Operations, Sales, and Service

· Interface directly with external installers.

· Participating in Continuous Improvement initiatives.

· Willing to travel to external installers and suppliers.

· All other duties as assigned
