The job level is able to be adjusted at time of hire, if the candidate meets the qualifications for jobs of a more experienced level in the career path.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
- Masters degree preferred.
- Minimum of six years of relevant Supply Chain experience required.
- APICS or CPM Certification desired.
- Must have excellent Microsoft Office capabilities, specifically Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Must be able to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form is necessary.
- Computer rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing methodologies.
- Must be able to work with team members and work with minimal supervision.
- Current Valid Driver’s License.
Potential Category assignments (depending on candidate's background and interest):
- Fabrications and Machine shops
- Engineered components - Gearboxes, engines, rotation bearings
- Electrical engineered components - circuit boards, controllers, modules
- FA components, lights, synthetic/wire rope
Responsibilities:
- Direct the procurement of materials, components, supplies, equipment, and services at appropriate costs consistent with objectives, schedules and specifications.
- Develop and maintain sources of high quality supply and supplier relationships.
- Participates in defining procurement procedures for Altec and ensures the procedures are effectively communicated and adhered to by all associates involved in the purchasing arena.
- Sets, with input from Sr. Management, appropriate controls and levels of authority applicable to operational level purchasing associates.
- Establishes financial and quality controls to effectively manage suppliers and to ensure procurement costs are within Altec guidelines.
- Manages and controls procurement documentation to ensure that the required audit trail is available.
- Develops new supply sources where suppliers are inadequate and provides supplier training.
- Negotiates blanket purchase orders when appropriate and monitors cost effectiveness of these orders.
- Develops and conducts internal (self-audits) and external audits of suppliers and purchasing processes.
- Develops and maintains effective departmental work environment and creates and promotes harmonious working relationships with others within the department and throughout the company.
- Mentor and supervise junior staff of Buyers and/or Purchasing Agents and others who may be involved in the process of purchasing or expediting materials, components, supplies, equipment and/or services.
- Manages multi-million dollar spend and assists in the preparation of facilitation of annual budgets.
- Periods of heavy travel will be required. Travel required approximately 25% of the time.
